Welcome to The Good Society

We are a small, local West Seattle brewery and public house.  We brew vibrant, purpose-driven beer and provide a place for everyone to gather around the table, build a community, and help their neighbors because we believe together is better.

What does all that mean?  It means that besides brewing beer we love to serve to our community and want to give back.  With every pint sold, we will donate a portion to a local cause.

Last call is 30 minutes before close. Kitchen closes 60 minutes before close.  No outside food or drink allowed.

While our address is a California Ave SW address, the entrance to the pub can be found on the side of the building around the corner on Lander Street.

Parking & Transportation

There should be ample street parking during the evenings and weekends on Lander and California within a block or two of The Good Society.

King County Metro Bus stop number 31930 is right outside our door.  Routes 50, 55, and 128 all stop here.  Additionally, routes 56 and 57 stop a block north of us on California Avenue and Admiral Way.

We are an all ages establishment.

While we love our pets, only service animals are allowed in food service facilities.

    Together Is Better

    Our mission at The Good Society is to create a sense of community around great beer. That means many things to us. We want to create a space where all members of our community feel welcome and respected. We want our Public House to be a safe gathering spot where friends, families and neighbors can start or strengthen their connection to one another – all while enjoying a pint of delicious brew. But we don’t intend to stop there. We know that a lot of our friends and neighbors, including Mother Earth, may not be able to pull up a chair for a pint, but need our support and community, nonetheless. So for every pint poured, we will give a portion of the sale to a local nonprofit generating positive social or environmental impact in our world. Helping to create a good society…that’s what being a part of community means to us. 

    Here’s how it works: Each year our management team and select advisory board members will identify and evaluate local non-profits doing great work in our community and beyond and select two organizations to support for the coming 6-12 months. These organizations will be contacted in advance of being supported, offering them agency in the decision to partner with The Good Society. Those organizations that agree will be featured on our website, in our brewery  and receive a quarterly cash donation generated by each customer’s choice when they close out their bill. So drink up and help us give back!

    The Good Society management and advisory board, in their sole discretion, may select any 501c3 registered non-profit organization to support for the coming period, or longer should they choose, and may restrict support to said organization at any time and/or for any reason.

    Through the first half of 2021, we have given almost $6,500 back to our community by supporting our partners!  If we can keep going strong and hit $12,500, we will have given almost 50% more back to our community than we did last year!
